BASQUE AND BRITISH EDUCATION SYSTEM

The European Union has a lot of different education system. But we are sure that we know which those differences are. In this expository text, we will talk about the basque and the british education systems and the main differences and similarities between them.

In Britain like in the Basque Country there are two types of schools depending on the financial system. Most of the schools are financed by the state and they are called State Schools. These schools are free of paying or you have to pay a little bit. On the other hand, we have the Private Schools that are financed from pupils’ fees.

Whereas, in Britain all children must start school at the age of five, in the Basque Country they have to start at six. From this age, school is compulsory for all children until they are sixteen that is the age they finish the secondary school. However, most of the schools have a play school or nursery school before they go to the primary school but it is not obligatory. At the age of eleven or twelve most of the children pass from the primary to the secondary school.

Analyzing what we have mentioned above, we can say there are not to much differences between the Basque and the British education system. However, I think is better to start the compulsory school at six, because at five children are still in a cognitive development and they are not too prepare to start with hard subjects.
